The Basics

iLok is a copy protection method used by many of our brands.

It has 3 types of activations, iLok USB, iLok Machine, and iLok Cloud.

Different brands/products will offer different iLok methods. iLok USB is always an option, but the availability of iLok Cloud and iLok Machine methods is at the discretion of the software developer.


iLok Account

For all iLok protected products, you will need an iLok account. You can create one for free here: ilok.com/#!registration


iLok License Manager

To manage your iLok licenses, there is a dedicated app called iLok License Manager. This app is used to register, activate, and move your licenses between locations.

You can download the latest installers from the iLok website: ilok.com/#!home


iLok USB Key

iLok USB

This activation is stored on an iLok 2 or 3 USB key.

It is the best option for portability, if you frequently move between multiple machines, and offline use.


iLok Machine ID

Machine ID

This activation is stored locally on your computer.

While this is a convenient way to work offline, and does not require the additional cost of an iLok USB, there is the risk of a license being lost in the case of a drive failure.

This option also requires extra care when you upgrade to a new computer, the license(s) must be deactivated on your old machine first to ensure you do not lose them.


iLok Cloud

iLok Cloud

This activation is based online, and requires a "cloud session" using the iLok License Manager.

It requires an active internet connection for the entire time you use the plugin(s).

SWAM Violin V3

The most realistic, real-time controllable, expressive virtual violin on the market. Our SWAM-S technology guarantees the same natural reactions as a real instrument. With SWAM instruments you can compose and arrange your orchestra pieces or concertos.

SWAM Violin is an instrument based on physical modeling. So it is possible to control the main mechanical variables in real-time. For example, the velocity controls the attack of the sound and the portamento time, as well when playing legato. The Mod. Wheel can control the vibrato and any foot pedal can be assigned to the expression. There is indeed no limit to the number of possible combinations.


SWAM Viola V3

SWAM Saxophones allow independent control of these primary expressive parameters, continuously and in real-time.


SWAM Flutes V3

The SWAM Flute is a perfect illustration of how a virtual instrument can realize the concept of articulation. The physics of the flute determine that the instrument’s main expressive techniques (such as expression, vibrato, and flutter tongue) all depend on a single factor: the dynamics of the breath.

With SWAM Flute, all these parameters are easily controlled in real-time with standard MIDI controllers, or even with a breath controller for a truly realistic feel.

SWAM Double Reeds V3

Four handcrafted digital acoustic instruments - Oboe, English Horn, Bassoon, and Contrabassoon - developed by Audio Modeling using SWAM technology to be the most realistic, real-time controllable, and expressive virtual double reeds on the market.

Any instrument based on SWAM technology allows controlling primary expressive parameters, such as dynamics and vibrato, continuously and in real-time.

SWAM Double Reeds also provide comprehensive staccato/legato articulation management, a key characteristic of double reed instruments.


SWAM Trumpets

Includes five expressive and realistic virtual Trumpets: Flugelhorn, Flugelhorn (Eb), Trumpet (Bb), Trumpet (C), Piccolo Trumpet.

SWAM Trumpets are realized entirely with Physical Modeling, included the Mutes!

This technology allows all articulations typical of this instrument to be reproduced in real-time, by acting on its main physical elements such as pipe length, breath pressure, and lip tension. Independent control of the valves allows both Half-Valve transitions and ones typically triggered with overtones in glissandos or broad vibratos.


SWAM Trombones

Comprised of five types of trombones: Double Bass Trombone, Bass Trombone, Tenor Bass Trombone, Tenor Trombone, and Alto Trombone.

Physical Modeling allows all articulations typical of Trombones to be reproduced in real-time, by acting on its main physical elements such as pipe length, breath pressure, and lip tension.

Independent control of the slide allows soft glissandos as well as ones with typical overtone triggers. Regardless, you can always choose between Slide or Valve mode.


SWAM Horns and Tubas

Five digitally handcrafted acoustic instruments – Bass Tuba, Tuba (Eb), Euphonium, French Horn (F), French Horn (Bb) – developed by Audio Modeling using SWAM Technology result in the most realistic, real-time controllable, and expressive virtual Horns and Tubas on the market.

SWAM Horns and Tubas are realized with Physical Modeling.
This technology allows all articulations typical of this instrument to be reproduced in real-time, by acting on its main physical elements such as pipe length, breath pressure, and lip tension.

In French Horns, the sound can be modulated using a hand inside the bell. Moreover, one can perform pedal notes by enabling the additional-valve option.
This feature is now available for all of the SWAM Brass Family.
